Group 'Apollo' develops 'HUD' system using AI
A group of local pupils have competed against hundreds of teams across Europe in a Junior Achievement competition and come out on top.
Apollo - which is made up of four students from Ballakermeen - has taken home the Intel Corporation AI Innovators Award.
It recognises Junior Achievement teams who have used AI responsibly to create purposeful solutions for local and global challenges.
To win it, Apollo developed a Heads Up Display system called Vision, which projects driving information, such as current speed and hazard warnings, directly onto the windscreen, within the driver's field of vision.
It also identifies developing road hazards and provides timely warnings.
With the award comes the opportunity to participate in the GEN-E festival, Europe’s largest entrepreneurship event, held in Istanbul in July.
