Guidance also offered about summer holiday advice for parents
The Isle of Man Constabulary has marked the end of the school year by reflecting on the success of its newly established Schools Education Team, which has delivered sessions across the Island’s schools.
The team, made up of one full-time and two part-time officers, has engaged with 32 primary schools, five high schools, as well as King William’s College and University College Isle of Man.
In the high schools, year 7 to 10 students took part in "Drop Down Days", with interactive sessions on topics tailored to their age group.
These events were supported by other organsations including St John Ambulance, Isle Listen, Motiv8, Housing Matters, and the Manx Resuscitation Team.
Primary pupils from Reception through to Year 6 also took part in tailored sessions throughout the year.
The Constabulary says it is now reviewing feedback from schools and pupils to ensure the sessions link in with their curriculum and best fit the needs of the pupils, schools and the wider Island community.
One of the issues identified is the need to support parents in helping their children stay safe online and while gaming.
Plans are underway to roll out more guidance via social media and offer in-person parent sessions after school hours from September.
In the meantime, families can visit Childline, NSPCC, and the Safer Schools initiative for summer holiday advice.
