Finish line in sight for RNLI fundraiser

Anjie Rook has walked 200 miles around the Island

A woman who's aiming to complete two laps of the Raad ny Foillan is set to finish her challenge in Douglas today (26 September).

Anjie Rook, Associate Director of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, has been walking the Island's coastline - 200 miles in total - to mark 200 years of the lifesaving charity.

She told Manx Radio that she's relied on the charity's water safety guidance along the way:

Former Douglas resident Sir William Hillary founded the RNLI in 1824 after witnessing a number of shipwrecks around the Isle of Man.

So far Anjie has raised around £2,900 for the charity - you can visit her JustGiving page here:

She's due to finish her final lap at Douglas Lifeboat Station this afternoon.
