Island initiative up for industry award

Service supports families in crisis

A partnership aiming to look after the mental health and well-being of children, young people and families on the Isle of Man is up for an award.

Manx Care alongside St Christopher's Therapeutic Services launched Bridges in 2023.

The service offers intensive support to families in crisis and those experiencing difficulties that could result in a child or young person going into care.

It's now been shortlisted for an industry award in recognition of its achievements and impact on the community of the Island.

The winners of the Children and Young People Now Awards 2024 will be announced at a ceremony in London in November.

Wraparound Therapeutic Manager at St Christopher’s Clare Maude, who has led the initiative on behalf of the charity, says “we are delighted that our proactive and timely approach to working with families can help to prevent children and young people coming into care, and enable those we support to have a brighter future together.”

Assistant Director for Children and Families Social Work at Manx Care Julie Gibney adds “we are thrilled that St. Christopher’s and Manx Care have been recognised in the Children and Young People Now Awards 2024.

"It’s great to see such an esteemed publication championing our collaborative work on an initiative that provides vital intensive support for families in crisis.

We’re so pleased to have made the shortlist alongside a number of excellent teams, all working to support children and young people to thrive."
