The outgoing Mayor of Douglas has presented cheques to three Island charities as part of the 2024–25 Mayoral fundraising appeal.
At a presentation held at the City Hall, Councillor Natalie Byron-Teare welcomed representatives from Naseem’s Manx Brain Tumour Charity, The Manx Housing Trust and Samaritans Isle of Man.
Each organisation received a donation of £2,167.76, raised through a variety of fundraising activities held over the past 12 months.
The funds were raised via a mixture of seasonal gatherings such as a Santa’s Grotto and an Easter Egg event, alongside events such as quiz nights, bingo at the Palace Hotel and themed evenings like the Elvis tribute and David Craig Night offered entertainment for all ages.
Mayor Natalie Byron-Teare said: "It has been a privilege to support these three incredible charities throughout this year in office.
"Each one plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families across the Island, whether through providing housing support, mental health services or caring for those affected by serious illness.
"The work they do often goes unseen, but it changes lives every day.
"I’m so grateful to everyone who attended our events, gave so generously, or volunteered their time.
"This year’s fundraising has been a true community effort and a reflection of the spirit and compassion that defines Douglas and the Isle of Man."
Douglas City Council has extended its thanks to all who participated in or supported the Mayoral fundraising appeal.
