The couple who run the business say they're 'over the moon'
UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man is celebrating a milestone as a local fish producer has been announced as its 350th biosphere partner.
Port St Mary based The Manx Lobster has signed up to the scheme which recognises businesses and organisations that have promised to adopt sustainable practices.
Michael Keig and Tracey Goldthorpe run the seafood supplier which only catches from waters between Castletown and Port Erin, where catches are processed half a kilometre from where it’s landed.
The pair were presented their certificate on the Alfred Pier, where UNESCO Biosphere IOM said: “Small businesses are key to our biosphere as they foster local economy and support communities, and often preserve specialist skills rooted in Manx culture.”
Michael and Tracey said they are 'over the moon' following the announcement, and added “when you really care about something, you never want it to go away, so we strive to do things in a way that means everyone is a winner.”
