Runners help raise more than £12K for Island charity

KPMG event raising funds for Live at Home

Runners have helped raise more than £12,000 for a charity which helps to improve the quality of life of older people on the Isle of Man.

Three hundred people took part in the KPMG Promenade Relay, on Douglas Promenade, on 7 July.

Seventy-three teams, and seven solo runners, represented a variety of businesses and groups.

The ‘Manx Wheelers and Ringers’ took the male team top spot – completing the 10K in 31.42 – and the ‘Awesome Foursome’ took the female team top spot, in 39 minutes.

Justine Howard, Tax Associate Director and Corporate Social Responsibility committee chair at KPMG in the Crown Dependencies, said: "It was another fantastic day for the KPMG prom relay and so wonderful to see the promenade alive with runners and supporters of the event creating an amazing atmosphere.

"The event is always a key date on our charity calendar which would not be possible without the support of the many people and businesses involved, including our sponsors, volunteers, marshals, St John Ambulance, Manx Radio, Event Management Solutions, Manx Timing Solutions and of course, all the runners who took part in the event!"

Karen Winter, interim Chief Executive at Live at Home, said: “Live at Home was delighted to be chosen as KPMG’s chosen charity this year.

"We are enjoying working with such a wonderful supportive team who understand how loneliness and isolation can impact on the lives of people.

"KPMG’s Promenade Relay was attended by an amazing group of people who gave it everything they had! I also wanted to finally say a big thank you to all the sponsors and those behind the scenes."
