Island firm leads global survey
A report's revealed this year saw a rise in companies affected by cyber crime.
The International Business Report (IBR), conducted by Island-based accountancy firm Grant Thornton, surveyed 2,500 businesses from around the globe.
Findings show a 6% rise in reported cases of cyber crime from 2016 (21%) - with the figure rising substantially (32%) when broadened to include the whole EU.
Damage to business infrastructure was the most common form of cyber attack.
Blackmail and extortion are also high on the list.
Of the companies surveyed in the report, 13% say they only realised they had been the victim of an attack a week or more after it happened.
