Only three of scheduled seven rounds have been held
This year's DPM Manx Rally Championship has been declared 'null and void'.
It's due to only three of the scheduled seven rounds being completed and follows the recent postponement of the Jurby Stages event which would've formed the final phase.
Chair of Motorsport Isle of Man David Clucas told Manx Radio it's been a 'tough decision' for officials to make - meanwhile the championship co-ordinator says, currently, there is no championship for 2025.
However Mr Clucas remains optimistic relevant parties can form a plan, in the coming months, to get the event up and running again:
As of the start of the year six stages were originally planned after just one event had taken place in 2023.
Along with the final Jurby Stages meeting (round seven) being called off rounds five and six were also scrapped following the cancellation of the Chris Kelly Memorial Stages.
The DPM Manx Rally Championship coordinator's statement in full reads:
"Unfortunately with only three completed rounds (seven formed this year's championship) the 2024 championship is 'null and void'.
"I would like to thank John from DPM for agreeing to sponsor the championship for a second year the event organisers - Motorsport Isle of Man and Manx Auto Sport for putting on the events, the marshals and all officials who make the events happen and finally to you, the competitors who enter.
"As for 2025 it would appear, at this time, there won’t be a Manx Championship. If and when a calendar of events is released a decision can then be made."
