Students in two year groups asked to stay at home
Students in two year groups at Ballakermeen High School have been told to stay at home for the rest of the week.
Almost 20 per cent of teaching staff – including 23 teachers and a number of cover supervisors - are absent.
The head teacher says the decision to stop Year 9 and 10 students from coming to school hasn't been 'taken lightly' and it's tried to do everything to avoid this scenario.
Adrienne Burnett has also confirmed there is a lack of supply teachers available.
Where possible staff will inform students today of the work they need to complete between now and the end of the week – online provision will also be available to some students.
All other children will remain in school as normal.
