Liz Hignett takes on third fundraising effort in memory of husband

An Andreas woman will fall silent this week in memory of her late husband.

Darren - or 'Daz' - Hignett died of bladder cancer the day before their 25th wedding anniversary, in September 2023, after an 18-month battle with the disease.

Over the last two years wife Liz has taken on a number of challenges in his memory.

In 2024 she did a 'Walk of Life' - paying homage to his love of Dire Straits - and in 2025 she did another walking challenge, dubbed 'Ever-Ton', which concluded at the Everton home ground, Hill Dickinson Stadium, where a memorial stone for Daz is present.

Manx Radio spoke to Liz ahead of this year's effort... a 24-hour sponsored silence in aid of the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association:

If you'd like to sponsor Liz you can visit her JustGiving page HERE.
