Crash of Flying Fortress still remembered
It's 72 year since the worst air disaster ever witnessed on Manx soil.
An American Flying Fortress bomber crashed into the side of North Barrule on April 23rd 1945, killing all 31 on board.
The plane was on a peaceful mission, taking passengers for a few days of leave in Northern Ireland.
Whilst visibility was poor at the time, it's never been known for certain why the plane crashed.
However, Ivor Ramsden from the Manx Aviation Preservation Society thinks there is a sad, if very likely, explanation
