150 years of democracy to be celebrated
One hundred and fifty years of democracy in the Isle of Man is to be marked today (Tuesday).
A special afternoon sitting of the House of Keys will be held in the old House of Keys in Castletown.
The introduction of public elections in 1867 was considered a major step in political democracy becoming a reality.
Speaker of the House Juan Watterson says the milestone is something which should be celebrated.
