Proposal to give officers extra powers
More than 100 abandoned vehicles have been removed from around the Island over the past year.
And that shows, the Infrastructure Minister insists, the legislation is working.
Ray Harmer told the House of Keys today (Tues) that a further nine vehicles had been removed by local authorities over the past 12 months.
However, replying to a question from North Douglas MHK David Ashford, he said a proposal had been tabled to give officers extra powers to remove vehicles when, though not necessarily abandoned, had been left in a state of neglect.
That included, he added, vehicles on Island roads not displaying valid tax discs.
