Excavated material is being repurposed at the site
The majority of a new access road has now been excavated at the site of the Peel sewage treatment works.
Manx Utilities has confirmed material from this work is being repurposed to raise ground levels at the site.
Due to a high water-table and recent weather conditions, much of it has had to be dried before being compacted.
The authority says this has been managed by spreading the material in 'windrows', which has 'significantly reduced the need to dispose of material off-site or import additional fill'.
