Verdict of accidental death reached for 60-year-old Charles Hughes
A verdict of accidental death was reached at the inquest of a Warrington man at Douglas courthouse this afternoon.
Sixty-year-old Charles Vincent Hughes was fatally injured after a single-vehicle road traffic collision near the Les Graham Memorial on May 31 this year.
Mr Hughes, a three-time competitior in the Manx Grand Prix, was visiting the Island with a friend for the 2015 TT races.
The pair were doing a lap of the Mountain Course at the time.
A witness revealed in a statement read to the court how she saw a man and a motorcycle thrown into the air about the height of a 'two-storey house'.
Mr Hughes was not intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Coroner of Inquests John Needham said - it's very difficult to come to a conclusion as to why he didn't make it round the bend safely - and that it was perhaps down to a split second of misjudgement.
Mr Needham said Mr Hughes would not have suffered in the incident - concluding he was clearly passionate about bikes and followed that passion to the end.
