Purple Helmets make return to event after 7 years
The annual Peel Carnival is to take place today, despite concerns from organisers around a lack of performers from the UK.
This year's event will feature a street parade, sand castle competition, and for the first time in seven years, the Purple Helmets motorcycle display team are due to make an appearance.
The day's entertainment will begin at 12, and more details of what's in store can be found at the Peel Carnival Facebook page.
Carnival chair Ian Baker hopes the event will keep younger attendees happy:
Peel Promenade will be closed from 10am to 6pm. Police from the Western Neighbourhood Policing Team are asking all drivers parked in the area to ensure their vehicles are moved before the closure comes into force.
Full details of the all the acts and timings can be found on the Peel Carnival Facebook page.
