Clean-up operation planned
Douglas Borough Council is set to take action to rejuvenate a run-down site at the heart of the capital that's been described as an 'eyesore' and 'filthy'.
The authority is planning to launch a clean-up operation of Villiers Square as soon as possible and bill the owners for the work.
Councillors agreed the site was left in an unacceptable condition throughout the busy TT period and resolved take matters into their own hands during a board meeting on Wednesday (13 June).
In a discussion over neglected, dilapidated and 'ruinous' properties, Council Leader David Christian bemoaned a lack of progress on Villiers Square.
Previous efforts to convince those responsible for the site had failed according to Councillor Ritchie McNicoll, who's chairman of the Environmental Services Committee.
He said 'it's time to take the bull by the horns':
