Company says it would bring new income into Ronaldsway

An application has been submitted to install a large advertising board at Ronaldsway.

Carrera Media Group Limited, trading as Billboards.IM wants to install the screen on grass near the entrance roundabout.

The company says its 'landmark digital advertising display' would provide 'substantial new revenue' for the airport.

It adds that all costs will be borne by itself and not by the airport or Department of Infrastructure.

The proposed scheme, 'the wing' takes its inspiration from aviation design and is similar in shape to an iron golf club.

If approved, the brightness of the screen would be adaptable and can enter a 'dark mode' during the hours Ronaldsway is closed.

The company's application says: "The proposed display signage is clearly well designed and very much in keeping with the specified use of the site (aerodrome) which we believe will contribute very positively to the overall area.

"It will not be overly large and will be sited in the optimum position to contribute meaningfully to the location."
