'Overcrowding' issue raised during sentencing of defendant
Concerns have been raised about the alleged use of portable buildings at the Isle of Man Prison.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday (21 May) a Manx advocate claimed it was due to 'overcrowding'.
During the sentencing of his client he told the Deputy High Bailiff he was concerned about the ‘conditions’ the defendant would face if he was handed a custodial sentence; particularly, he said, due to the warm weather.
Manx Radio has asked the Department of Home Affairs to respond.
