Decision made with care, says Director
Continuing to provide a day care service for the elderly within the allocated budget was too costly, according to the director of Age Isle of Man.
Helen Southworth says that despite the care being a 'vital service', the charity could not afford to renew their long-standing government contract this time around.
Day care provision for older people has now been moved 'in-house' by the Department of Health and Social Care, after no bidders in its latest tender process were able to run the service within the allocated budget.
