Take cash to cover spend - and extra, urges travel agent

Islanders heading to Greece on holiday are being advised to take plenty of euros, as the country teeters on the verge of exit from the Eurozone.

Talks are taking place today to solve the country's debt crisis, amid demands for drastic reforms by international creditors.

Travel experts say the vast majority of tourists will be unaffected - with hotels and tavernas in austerity, eager for foreign trade.

But if what's being called a 'Grexit' happens, there could be a run on ATM machines as local people extract their funds in cash.

Already, some shops and restaurants are declining credit cards.

Simon Goddard is chief executive at Online Regional Travel Group, which runs Richmond Travel in Douglas and Mann Link in Ramsey.
