Bill falls at first reading in Legco
The MHK who steered a Bill through the Keys which would have made election of a Chief Minister purely a House of Keys affair, has described it's rejection by the Legislative Council as "a sad day for politics".
The Council of Ministers (Amemendment) Bill has fallen at its first reading in Legislative Council.
It would have taken LegCo members out of the election process for the top man or woman in Manx Government.
As the news of the rejection percolated through to the House of Keys, Alfred Cannan expressed his disappointment.
