Weekend of discovery and education
The Island's unique feminist heritage will be discussed in a talk this evening (Fri).
Dr Helen Pankhurst is the great-granddaughter of revolutionary English suffragette Emmeline - who's own mother Sophia Goulden hailed from Lonan.
She's here for the first time for a weekend of discovery and education, meeting Island schoolchildren, politicians and the charity keeping Sophia's legacy alive in the Island.
An activist and womens' writer herself, Dr Pankhurst says the Manx people have a special attentiveness to the cause:

'Too early to tell' what caused fire
Firefighting foam may have killed fish in Silverburn River
Additional road closure for TT filming ahead of MGP qualifying
'Knives and sharp implements' left outside charity shops
