Former Manx resident sentenced for theft
A former resident of the Isle of Man who saved a pig from slaughter, has been convicted of theft.
Last July Wesley Omar filmed himself stealing the pig from a farm in Leicestershire, in an effort to raise awareness for animal rights.
A judge from the county's Crown Court told the 23-year-old he was not entitled to commit criminal acts in the form of protest.
Omar who moved to England three years ago, was given a 12-month community order and 100 hours of unpaid work.
The rescued 'Wilbur', who is believed to have been worth £60, now lives at an animal sanctuary.
