26th edition of Shennaghys Jiu gets underway at Ramsey Town Hall tomorrow
A local festival to give young people the chance to play music, dance, and share Manx culture gets underway again this week.
The 26th instalment of the annual Shennaghys Jiu traditional music and dance festival kicks off tomorrow evening (Thursday 3 April).
Translating roughly to 'tradition today' in English, the event is largely based in Ramsey and features cèilidhs, concerts, outdoor performances (weather permitting) and even an arts and crafts fair.
Chairperson Juan Garrett says the whole festival started as a way to help bring young talent up through the ranks:
