Lawrie Hooper MHK says it needs an overhaul
A Ramsey MHK is renewing calls for a major overhaul of the Island’s rating system.
Lawrie Hooper says introducing an all-Island rate wouldn’t solve the problem, arguing the system itself is broken.
He brought forward reform proposals to Tynwald in July, but they failed to gain support, with government saying the issue should be left to the next administration.
Mr Hooper insists only a full shift to a capital value model will deliver meaningful change:
