Police warn of fake calls from Microsoft
Police are warning of another scam apparently doing the rounds on the Island.
Members of the public say they've been contacted by someone stating they work for Microsoft and that the company owe them money.
Rather than Microsoft just sending them the money, people are persuaded to send money to the scammer, thinking they are sending it to Microsoft, and that the amount they send will be returned to them plus the amount that Microsoft owes them.
Not surprisingly perhaps, THIS IS A SCAM and such messages should be ignored and deleted.
Police say no legitimate company would ever operate a refund or payment to a customer in such a way and if you are contacted by someone out of the blue with an offer that sounds too good to be true, it probably will be.
