MLC's amendment fails
A bid to force a U-turn on proposed parking charges in the capital has failed in Tynwald.
It means government staff working in central Douglas will soon have to pay for their spaces.
MLC Tony Wild asked for proposals to be tweaked so the charge would only apply to Tynwald members, not civil servants, to allow for consultation.
However, plans for charges to be introduced at all government car parking spaces in central Douglas were approved by 24 votes to eight.
It was a combined vote after the House of Keys and Legislative Council were divided on the issue a month ago.
