About 1,000 MUA customers now have their own renewable energy source installed
Manx Utilities (MUA) is seeing an increasing trend when it comes to renewable energy on the Isle of Man.
Speaking in front of Tynwald's Environment and Infrastructure Policy Review Committee, Chief Executive Phillip King said about 1,000 MUA customers now have their own renewable energy source installed.
Meanwhile Finance Director, Simon Clague, says many people are privately installing means of generation 'multiple times larger than their demand':
Mr King also confirmed that energy generated by private individuals and companies now equals around seven megawatts.
Separately, government was aiming to generate 30 megawatts of renewable energy on Island by the next general election.
It had been hoped a 20-megawatt onshore wind farm and 10 megawatts of solar power would be up and running by 2026.
