Lynda Cannell passed away on 18 January
The Isle of Man Arts Council has paid tribute to a woman it describes as a 'pioneer in Manx public service'.
Lynda Cannell passed away on 18 January.
Whilst with the arts council, she's credited with bringing over the Hallé and BBC Philharmonic orchestras to the Villa Marina.
Lynda's husband was Geoff Cannell, well-known Manx Radio broadcaster and former member of the House of Keys, who passed away in 2007.
Her daughter Zoë Cannell, the current Manx bard, has written how 'she smashed the glass ceiling by becoming the Manx Government’s first female executive officer in Treasury in the 1970s.'
Zoë described her as a 'wonderful mother', 'a fantastic wife' and says her 'character and strong spirit will live on'.
