The Big Swim will take place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September
Later this summer, a local man is to attempt to swim continuously for 24 hours, all in aid of Rebecca House Children’s Hospice and The Children’s Centre.
Martin Malone is taking on the challenge on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September as part of the ambitious Expedition Limitless 2026 fundraising campaign.
Dubbed 'The Big Swim', he'll be in the water for the full 24 hours - only stopping every hour to eat and drink - with the aim of raising £50,000.
Martin told Manx Radio the decision to undertake the challenge at St Andrews Lakes in Kent was thanks to a number of factors:
The solo endurance feat is the latest in a growing list of fundraising efforts from the Expedition Limitless team, which aims to raise £200,000 over two years to support children and families across the Isle of Man.
Martin has previously taken part in endurance fundraisers, including being part of a team which canoed around Mooragh Park lake for 24 hours.
For the 'big swim' he's being sponsored by several companies, including:
- Zoggs
- Loganair
- St Andrew’s Lakes
- The Z Zurich Foundation
- Visit Isle of Man
- Josh Blue Fitness
- Bikestyle Isle of Man
- Zurich Isle of Man
- The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company

Every donation is to be matched by the Z Zurich Foundation.
