Public health warns of unneccessary consumption
The Island's director of public health says patients and doctors need to be wary of over prescribing antibiotics.
Dr Henrietta Ewart says treating the drug as a 'quick fix' is misguided and dangerous, with resistance to antibiotics becoming a major headache for global health services.
In England a campaign's been launched to build awareness of unnecessary use of the drugs, which can render them ineffective.
Dr Ewart says old attitudes towards antibiotics need to change.
