Backbenchers brand Crogga decision 'really disappointing'

Manx politicians have started to share their reactions to the news that a project to extract gas from an area off the Island's coast has been abandoned.

Late last night (28 February) energy firm Crogga announced its licence was to expire at 11:59pm after it wasn't possible to agree terms on an extension with the Department of Infrastructure.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHKs Tim Glover and Jason Moorhouse have been reacting to the news.

On social media, Mr Glover said: "Need to hear the full story but this seems really disappointing."

Meanwhile, Mr Moorhouse says it will be 'interesting' to see what led to the decision.

He took to Facebook, saying: "There is the possibility, that we will hear a lot more about this in the coming days. 

"I spoke to the Minister about this on Wednesday about what had happened in the House of Keys and a statement was being considered - Is this it? 

"With the potential of court action, getting more information from the Department of Infrastructure in the short term could be a challenge (as I found out on Tuesday!).

"It will be interesting to see the documentation"
