Ballafesson Methodist Chapel and Hall to officially close 

Building to be put up for sale this Autumn

Ballafesson Methodist Chapel and Hall is to close later this month, with the building set to be put up for sale.

The church says the decision comes 'after careful consideration of the sustainability and viability of continuing to maintain the property for community activities and associated purposes'.

It comes after the decision to cease regular worship at the site was taken by the local Church Council back in 2024.

At that point, trusteeship was transferred to the wider Methodist Circuit.

However, the decision has now been made to offer the premises for sale this Autumn, and bookings will no longer be taken after 1 October.

Speaking on behalf of the Circuit, Superintendent Rev Steve Ingrouille said: "It is with real sadness that we say goodbye to this beloved physical space.  

"We recognise that many people will look back with immense gratitude for the memories woven into this building, and we wish to thank all those involved in the community at Ballafesson Methodist Chapel for their tireless work over the years whilst also looking forward with hope as the neighbouring congregations continue our Methodist mission in the area."

A final commemorative concert featuring the Mariners Choir is scheduled to take place this Saturday (12 September).

Community members, past congregants, and neighbours are all 'warmly invited to attend'.
