19-year-old failed a drug wipe test
A Douglas man has been banned from the road for two years after admitting drug driving.
Nathan Paul Cannell, of Orrys Close, was stopped on Loch Promenade on 16 February when an officer in a marked police vehicle travelling behind him could smell cannabis.
The 19-year-old failed a drug wipe test and was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters; blood tests showed he was over the legal limit for cannabis.
Cannell's advocate told the court he had felt he was fit to drive.
Fining him £1,000, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £50, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood also told him he’d have to take, and pass, an extended driving test.
