DEFA Minister says it's the 'right course of action'
The decision to immediately ban the live importation of cattle, sheep and goats that are susceptible to a viral disease has been applauded by the Manx farming industry.
Yesterday (28 November) the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture confirmed it was introducing the measure to try and stop 'bluetongue' reaching our shores.
It follows an outbreak in the south of England in Canterbury.
Minister Clare Barber told Manx Radio the move - which has been welcomed by Sarah Comish the general secretary of the Manx National Farmers Union - follows consultation with vets here and in the UK:
