Unique venture featured in Times article
A Island-based millionaire has attracted international media attention for a new venture where bitcoin will be accepted as payment for luxury homes in Dubai.
Baroness Mone's launch of £250 million property development in the Gulf state, for sale in the cryptocurrency, features in a full page article in today's (6 Sep) issue of The Times.
The two residential towers, expected to be completed in 2019, will span 2.4 million sq ft - a single apartment is said to cost an average of $133,000 dollars, the equivalent of roughly 30 bitcoins.
Use of the controversial digital currency to buy the properties is described by the UK newspaper as a 'world first' - the story has also featured in global news outlets such as Reuters and CNBC.
Lady Mone, a former model and founder of lingerie brand Ultimo, has lived on the Island for the last eight years.
She's credited her partner, Scottish businessman Doug Barrowman, for the idea to go into bitcoin:
