Prolonged Peel peal
Peel cathedral is to take part in a symbolic ringing of church bells across a continent this morning (19 March), as a mark of solidarity with refugees.
The 'Joy of Bells' initiative is being launched in Christ Church cathedral in Waterford, southern Ireland, by former president Mary McAleese at 11am.
Bells will be rung for an hour after the morning service in protest at anti immigrant sentiment, and to raise awareness at the plight of refugees.
Ringers in Peel will start their rope-pulling at 9.30am, in an event which organisers hope will be copied in churches around Europe.
