A Manx resident recognised in the New Year's Honours says he just wanted to make people laugh.
Derry Kissack receives a British Empire Medal for his outstanding contribution to charitable, cultural and community work on the Island.
His work with comedic motorcycle stunt group the Purple Helmets raised £124,000 for the Southern Motorcycle Club, while other charities have also benefitted from his efforts.
But Derry says providing entertainment was his number one priority:
After the unforgettable Purple Helmets announced their retirement in 2022, Manx Radio spoke with Derry and original Purple Helmet Jim Davidson about some of their performing highlights. Click the link to listen back to parts ONE and TWO of 'The Purple Helmets Last Bash'.
