Passengers stranded, sailings cancelled today
The Steam Packet has apologised, after engine failures caused twelve hour delays for passengers overnight.
A cylinder head problem meant the Ben-my-Chree was unable to leave Heysham for Douglas yesterday at 2.15pm.
But as the extent of the problem became clear, the Mannanan was drafted in to cover crossings - with the scheduled afternoon sailing eventually leaving Heysham on the fastcraft at 2.15am.
The Steam Packet has cancelled today's Ben-my-Chree sailings to and from Heysham, at 8.45am and 2.15pm respectively.
But bosses say they're hopeful tonight's service, scheduled to leave Douglas at 7.45pm, will go ahead as planned.
One of those onboard yesterday was Manx Radio's rugby correspondent, Dave Christian.
