Steam Packet CEO explains mechanical issues
An 'absolutely unprecedented' mechanical failure is how the reason for the Ben-my-Chree being out of action over the weekend is being described.
The problem occurred just as the ship was manoeuvring into Douglas harbour on Saturday morning.

Testing of the engine following repair work was completed at about 11am, and she finally left Douglas at about 11.40am.
Meanwhile, there have been changes to today's Manannan sailings, following her extra journeys overnight.
The 3pm Douglas to Liverpool sailing will now leave at 5pm, while the 7.15pm return will go at 9.15pm.
Check in no later than 45 minutes before departure.
