Minister quizzed over fit-for-work tests
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says he doesn't know how much money the government has saved after sickness benefits claimants were found fit to work.
Earlier this year, it emerged 44 per cent of those tested by Dependability Ltd were found fit and put on unemployment benefits - the switch from a range of benefits to Job Seekers Allowance contributing to rising joblessness figures.
Today in the House of Keys, Mr Teare was quizzed by South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft about the contract, the tests and the policy.
Mr Teare insisted the fit-for-work assessments are not about cutting costs:
