Treasury boosts incapacity support
Incapacity benefit has been more than doubled to help those who are stuck in isolation and unable to work.
Treasury has temporarily increased support - from £86.55 a week to £230 a week - for the first 14 days of absence from work.
It will come into force for all claims made for those off work on, or after, Sunday 18 July.
Support for businesses hit by the recent wave of cases is also being considered.
Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan says the existing rate of incapacity benefit wasn't encouraging people to 'take the right action' by isolating and getting tested.
He adds the increase should incentivise them to do so.
