MHK wants tabs kept on imported cars
More stringent safety checks need to be carried out on vehicles brought across to the Island privately by individuals.
So says an MHK who is concerned some cars are being transported from the UK without a HPI check, which assesses whether has a car has been 'written off', stolen or has finance owing.
What’s being described as a lack of communication between the test centre and the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) in the UK means some vehicles can be brought to the Island and re-registered without those checks.
