Billy Harris relishing upcoming Wimbledon debut

Isle of Man pro-competitor earns wildcard entry

Isle of Man pro-tennis player Billy Harris says he's 'very excited' ahead of making his Wimbledon debut.

The former Albany Lawn Tennis Club, and Castletown Lawn Tennis Club, competitor has received a wildcard entry into the men's singles at this year's Grand Slam tournament which starts on 1 July.

Earlier this month he reached a career-high ATP world ranking of 162, this week he moved up to 139.

Harris will find out who he'll face in his Wimbledon opener when the first draws for the singles tournaments take place at around 10am on Friday (28 June).

Among his latest outings this month the British number six seed reached the semi-finals of both the Rothesay Open and Surbiton Open whilst also getting to the third round of the cinch Championships at The Queen's Club.

Earlier this year he only just missed out on a place in the main draw at the French Open at Roland Garros - suffering defeat in the third qualifying round.

He also reached the third qualifying round for Wimbledon last year after earning a qualifying wildcard entry.

Speaking to Manx Radio Harris says his positive results lately have boosted his confidence and he remains grateful for the support he continues to get from the Island:
