Patricia Hillas considers the future of the role in Tynwald
The Bishop-designate of the Isle of Man acknowledges that she's taking up the position at an interesting time politically.
It was announced yesterday that The Venerable Patricia Hillas will take over the role left vacant by Reverend Peter Eagles, after she's consecrated at York Minster in October.
It comes as the future of the role in Tynwald is up for debate; there's a Private Members Bill calling for the voting power to be removed.
Bishop Tricia says ultimately this decision should rest with the Manx public, but she can see some benefits to it being retained:
Heysham sailings cancelled due to adverse weather forecast
Immigration expert claims government didn't factor in impact of migrants' families
Motorists advised to move cars from Bottleneck
Drugs activity on the Island leading to kidnappings, says chief constable
