The Lord Bishop has expressed his surprise that the Isle of Man Adoption Society is to close.
The Bishop was speaking after Tynwald approved the Adoption Society Order 2013, which effectively allows for the merger of the society with the Isle of Man Childrens' Centre.
The decision had been taken some time ago by the board of the Society - of which the bishop is president - but he wasn't informed until after the meeting and hadn't been consulted on the matter.
He believes the term "merger" is misleading as the Society will have closed down and he's not convinced it's the right move
After a short debate on the issue, the move to allow the merger was passed in the court by a narrow margin.
