Offence carried out just before maternity leave
A court's heard how a Douglas woman conspired with a former colleague to steal more than £2,000 worth of goods from her employers.
Twenty-one-year old Boots worker Abigail Jayne Paterson and Rebecca Marran, 23, both pleaded guilty to a count of theft at Douglas courthouse yesterday (TUESDAY).
The pair carried out the offence on 28 March, on what was Paterson's last day of work in the Strand Street store before she went on maternity leave.
Marran, of Woodbourne Road, went to the checkout with a number of items that Paterson pretended to scan through the till.
Among the stolen goods was a baby monitor, an electric toothbrush, and a microdermabrasion brush worth £225.
Seventeen items worth around £715 were returned to the store, however, upon further investigation by police another 39 items including make-up were discovered at Marran's home.
The total value of the goods stolen came to £2,046.74.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes has adjourned the case until May 16.
Both Marran and Paterson have been bailed in their own recognisance to the sum of £500.
