An innovative new scheme to provide a Breast Unit at Noble's Hospital could provide a blueprint for the way forward in other areas.
That's the belief of Brenda Cannell MHK, president of the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group.
The charity is working in partnership with the Department of Health to create the unit at Noble's, after the idea was proposed by the Island's breast surgeon, Millie Bello, earlier this year.
A public appeal has now been launched to raise funds for the scheme, estimated to cost in the region of £600,000.
Mrs Cannell says the partnership between the third sector and government could be the way forward for many such projects.
In supporting the scheme, Health Minister David Anderson has given a commitment to cover the cost of re-locating the Audiology Department to free up space at Noble's for the proposed breast unit.
